White Lies

Bruises fade. Memories don’t.

I keep drinking to forget
The white lines,
Reckless embraces,
And truth that I don’t want to accept.

I burn with guilt,
Searching for regret,
Desire drowns me,
Soaking my sheets in the night.

Hanging for a week
My head in shame.
Throbbing and foggy,
Poison on my breath.

My skin exposed
My sin, he knows
But he’ll never say.

Furtive glances,
Tears before bedtime,
Strangled sentiments –

Oh, he knows.
But he’ll never say.
